Everything is pop this summer! the vibrant colors, the fabrics, the materials and the prints. This trend is nothing new, pop culture was huge in the 60s and has played a huge role in every decade. This 2018 trends evoke the best 60s trends such as plastic, pop art prints, sequins and of course bold colors!
Chanel presented plastic as the key element in their spring collection 2018 with plastic coats, bags and boots, yeah you read it right. Plastic heels have started a popular debate about their safety. Heat and plastic don't get along, especially on your feet when they are in full contact. They look cool for a shoot but not good for every day. However, accessories made of plastic such as a bag or even a raincoat can be a good alternative to try this trend. There is another downside and polemical side of plastic. In 2018, a year when sustainability is gaining power more than ever, plastic has appeared as an opposition to everything environmentalists support. We all should be more concerned with the amount of plastic the fashion industry produces or at least, use recycled plastic in your looks.
You cannot conceive the 60s without pop art nor Andy Warhol! In the 21st century, Jeremy Scott is the maximum representative of pop culture in fashion. His designs for Moschino always involve a wink to pop culture like Spongebob Squarepants, Barbie, McDonalds... and this year, was the turn of Jackie Kennedy and her iconic hat and hairstyle styled with pop art printed dresses. Versace also joined this trend with the Spring 2018 collection which included the famous Marilyn portrait by Warhol and even played with the pop culture of Vogue and added their own twist to Warhol's pop art.
