HAUTE COUTURE | Wearable Art - Viktor & Rolf

I have always thought of fashion as art, especially haute couture collections which I consider them as wearable art: you can admire them and you can wear them –if you are daring enough to do it. Haute couture collections are not based on the consumer’s tastes and many of them aren’t made for the public to wear because they are more experimental, therefore they end up being exposed in museums. Recently, the Dutch duo presented their latest collection named Wearable Art. They took literally this idea and turned dresses and skirts into different works of art. Considering that Viktor & Rolf have left the ready-to-wear industry to focus on haute couture, it was a very smart way to represent their new beginning and the idea of haute couture as wearable art.

The first video is the runway show which I recommend you to watch to understand better the idea they wanted to express and if you would like to know how the runway show was conducted and how the collection was made, check the second video.
