NEW TREND | SPORTCORE

According to WSGN, Sportcore has become the new trend that has emerged from the combination of two major trends from the last year: normcore and athleisure.
In the search for simplicity and going back to the 90s, normcore is characterised by the "IDGAF-what-I'm-wearing" look. It breaks up with all the fashion eccentricities that we are used to see during fashion week. The basic white tee and sweathsirt combined with an old pair of Levi's and white Nikes is key to look like a character from Seinfeld. This was all you needed to avoid looking cool, but necessary if you wanted to be part of the cool kid gang.
On the other hand, athleisure, is all about your gym clothes but fancier. Looking sporty on an everyday basis with a nice pair of leggings and combining it with your favorite sports bra or sports tee and of course a beautiful pair sneakers. You want to achieve a comfortable gym look but in a streetwear version.
These two trends meet in the "comfortability" category. Both looks are meant to have a relaxed feeling so it's easy to bring together both trends creating the new one called sportcore.

Sportcore dreams about the retro sportwear from the 90s: colorful tracksuits from Adidas or a Champions sweatshirt. Big logos are also common in the sportcore trend especially when combined with vintage Levi's, they create the perfect combination of normcore and athleisure. The trend originates in Korea where many brands like ADER Error embrace the sportcore aesthetic and it has become popular among teenagers. But also the brand Vetements has incorporated that look in his recent collections. Celebrities like Rihanna and Gigi Hadid have been seen sporting this trend but also fashion youtuber Karen Yeung𑁋 with a diverse and originalstyle𑁋 embodies this trend perfectly.
